Cougars Look To Post UMAC Win

MORRIS, Minn. - The Cougars (0-1) are at Big Cat Stadium for the second straight week and will look to pick up a UMAC win this Saturday as they take on Martin Luther (1-0) at 1:00 p.m. UMM will get a second look at the triple option offense that haunted them last week against Hamline as they fell short 37-31 despite a record 390 yards passing.

This marks the tenth time these two teams will meet, MLC holds the 6-3 advantage at the moment but UMM did win 44-40 last season. This is also the tenth UMAC opener for the Cougars since joining the UMAC in 2003; they are 6-3 in UMAC Openers.

Last week the Cougars had a pretty balanced attack throughout the game until late when they were forced to the ball in the air more often, UMM ended the day with 37 rushing attempts and 51 passing attempts. Martin Luther on the other hand ran the ball 56 times and threw it 20.

Derrick Foss and Dan Garrigan were a combined 26-51 last week with 217 and 173 yards respectively. Foss had all three touchdown passes completing two to freshman Dalton DeGraffenreid and one to his brother Bendon Foss. Another freshman Roumy Desir had six catches for 81 yards. Leandro Dower added 70 yards on the ground and one touchdown.

On defense Cody Hickman had 13 tackles to lead the team including two tackles for loss and one forced fumble. Zeke Miller and Matt Zdrazil each added eight tackles.
