Box Score SAINT BONIFACIUS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (8-10, 4-4 UMAC) picked up a huge 87-38 win over Crown (8-11, 3-5 UMAC). Four Cougars were in double figures on Tuesday, led by
Tyler Pendleton who had a game high 14 points, coming off the bench. The defense held UMAC Player of the Week Anthony DiLoreto to just eight points.
Much like their first meeting, the story was turnovers. The Cougars forced 17 turnovers and turned them into 14 points. Minnesota Morris outscored the Storm 42-20 in the paint and the bench outscored Crown 50-22 on the night.
Joe Roggenbuck had a career high ten points in twelve minutes off the bench.
Ben Hoidal had 12 points off the bench as well on 5-8 shooting.
Steve Birman led all starters with 11 points.
As a team UMM shot 53.3% from the field, going 16-30 in both halves. Defensively they held the Storm to just 26.5% from the field and just 1-15 from three point range.
Early in the first half Crown was able to stay close, trailing by just two, 12-10, with 12:37 left in the half. The Cougars took over after that going on a 30-5 run over the next 11:04 to take a 42-15 lead. Pendleton had all 14 of his points in the first half on 5-7 shooting and 4-6 from three point land.
The second half was a little more competitive as the Cougars relied heavily on their reserves in the final 20 minutes. The bench outscored the starters 31-11 in the second half as the Cougars coasted to the 87-38 win.
On Friday the Cougars will be back on the road as they take on North Central at 7:30 p.m. The following day Minnesota Morris will take on the UMAC leaders Northwestern at 5:00 p.m.
