Box Score MORRIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team defeated Bethany Lutheran today by a score of 9-0. This is the 7
th shutout in a row for the women and this moves the team to third all-time in goals scored in a single game.
The Cougars had three goals within the first eight minutes of action. The first two came from
Emma LaChance. She scored, unassisted, in the fourth minute as the ball hit the top post and bounced in. The third goal was scored by
Carly Denler and assisted by
Kelsi Kolle.
At the halfway mark, the Cougars were up 6-0.
Leading the women today was
Emma LaChance who had four goals on the afternoon. This ties the school record for goals in a single game. LaChance now has 11 goals on the season; this leads the Cougars. This is the second hat-trick for LaChance this season. She also had three goals against North Central on October 5.
The other big performance came from
Carly Denler who also had a hat-trick on the day. Denler had 3 goals this afternoon. This is a career high for her. Denler is second on the team in goals with 10 on the season.
The goalkeeper,
Torri Jordan, had her fifth shutout on the year. This victory moves her to 6-0-0 on the season. She had one save on the day; she now has three saves this season.
Other notables include: two assists by
Kelsi Kolle and
Ally Heida respectively. Heida leads the team with six assists. Kolle and
Ivie Brooks also had onr goal on the day; this is the second goal for each.
The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow, October 19, against Martin Luther at noon. The women beat the Knights on September 27, 3-0 in New Ulm. The Cougars move onto 9-3-0 on the season and 8-1-0 in UMAC play.
