Balanced Attack Leads Cougars

Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (11-6, 5-0 UMAC) hit .267 with just 11 errors on Friday night as they swept the North Central Rams (4-16, 1-5 UMAC) 25-10, 25-18, 25-17 to improve to 5-0 in the UMAC. Five different Cougars had at least five kills in the match. BOX SCORE
 
Both Cori Becker and Hannah Terhaar had six kills. Abby Tietz, Hannah Knott and Addie Vancura each added five. Kayley Siekmann had a team high 17 assists on the night. Tietz led the defense with eight digs in two sets.
 
Morris held the Rams to .011 hitting on the night forcing 24 errors in 92 attempts.
 
The Cougars jumped out to a 6-2 lead in set one and then went on a 15-2 run to in the middle of the set to take a 23-6 lead. After giving up four straight points, the Cougars took the set 25-10.
 
North Central took a 7-4 lead in set two before UMM rallied back to tie it at seven. It went back and forth for a couple points before Morris went on a 6-1 lead to take a 14-10 lead midway through the set. The Rams got within one at 18-17 but the Cougars scored five straight taking a 23-17 lead before winning the set 25-18.
 
Set three was tight early but Morris stayed ahead for a most of the set. Leading 10-9, the Cougars would go on an 8-3 run to take an 18-12 lead and did not look back. Minnesota Morris would take the set 25-17.
 
Now the Cougars travel to St. Paul to take on Northwestern in a battle of unbeaten teams in the UMAC. Following the match with Northwestern the Cougars will take on Gustavus Adolphus at Northwestern.
