Cougars Cruise by Crown

Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris Cougars (14-6, 7-0 UMAC) picked up their eighth straight win on Tuesday night with a sweep of Crown College (3-19, 2-5 UMAC) 25-12, 25-9, 25-14. On the night, Morris hit .369 and had just five errors in 65 swings.
 
The offense was extremely balanced; ten different players had a kill in the match. Hannah Terhaar led the way with seven kills. Mandy Allman had 17 assists to set up the offense. Kaylie Clark led the team in digs with seven. Abby Tietz had three block assists for a team who had five total blocks on the night.
 
Morris pulled away from the Storm early in the first set. With a 7-6 lead, the Cougars went on a 13-3 run, taking a commanding 20-9 lead. The Cougars would take the set 25-12. Minnesota Morris was all over Crown in set two jumping out to a 9-2 lead out of the gate. The lead would grow to as much as 20-6 before taking the set by a score of 25-9, their largest lead of the set. Set three was similar to the first with the Cougars holding a small lead early in the set. A 17-6 run midway through the set gave the Cougars a 21-9 lead and the Storm did not recover.
 
This weekend the Cougars will be in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for matches with Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Wisconsin-Stout and Wisconsin River Falls in that order. On Friday they take on La Crosse and Stevens Point starting at 5 p.m. The day starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday as they meet up with Stout followed by River Falls.
