Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – Early goals helped Minnesota Morris (11-5, 10-3 UMAC) secure the second spot in the UMAC and a home playoff game on Tuesday afternoon after a 2-0 win over North Central (2-16, 0-13 UMAC) on Friday afternoon.
Emma LaChance and
Carly Denler had goals for the Cougars in the match.
It did not take long for Morris to get on the scoreboard as
Justine Wolf settled a cross and found LaChance in the box. LaChance took a touch and fired the ball low past the keeper and into the net. Just over four minutes later a cross was mishandled by the keeper and Denler put the ball in the back in the net. UMM outshot the Rams 6-1 in the first half.
The match was settled in the second half and neither team was able to find the back of the net. The shot differential was close but Morris still outshot NCU 4-3. Morris had the advantage 3-1 in corner kicks on the day.
The Cougars will wrap up the regular season tomorrow with a match against Northwestern. They will host Martin Luther on Wednesday in the UMAC Tournament Semi-Finals.
