COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – St. John's jumped out early on Minnesota Morris on Friday afternoon as they handed the Cougars a 5-1 loss in their season opener. Ebrima Badgie scored a goal for the Cougars, the goal was his 22 second of his career, tying for fourth all time in Cougar history.
The Johnnies were able to take two goal lead into the half after a goal in the 26th minute, as the ball hit the crossbar and went in. St. John's would double that lead with goals in the 56th and 59th minutes to put the game out of reach.
Badgie netted his goal in the 64th minute when Matthew Bennis found Matt Vik, before Vik crossed a ball that Badgie headed into the back of the net. SJU added a goal in the 75th minute to make the final score 5-1.
Minnesota Morris will be back on the pitch on Sunday as they host Concordia University, Wisconsin at 3 p.m.
