UMAC Play Opens Up Saturday

MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris (0-1) football team will open up UMAC play on the road Saturday as they travel to Illinois to take on Greenville (1-0). The Cougars are looking to rebound following a 41-33 loss to open their season. GAME NOTES

Morris saw their offense come alive in the second half on Saturday outscoring Hamline 27-7 in the 20 minutes of game play. Caleb McLaren threw for over 330 yards and Brendon Foss had three touchdown receptions.

Greenville is coming off a shootout victory over Milikin on Saturday 48-41. They scored the winning touchdown with less than 40 seconds left in the game. Their quarterback Brendan Chambers ran for 155 yards and threw for 178 in their opener. Last year against the Cougars Chambers ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for two more and 97 yards. The Panthers rushing offense ran for over 400 yards and the Cougars will need to control the line of scrimmage in hopes of winning on the road this weekend.

Cody Hickman racked up 16 tackles against Hamline last week and will be called upon once again to lead the Cougars offense. He and his fellow linebackers will be important in stopping the Panthers triple option offense.
