Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – Playing at home did the trick for the Cougars (1-2-0), who picked up a huge 7-1, win over Wisconsin-Superior on Sunday.
Emma LaChance had a pair of goals and an assist in the win. Four other scorers picked up a goal for the Cougars on the day.
The scoring got started in the sixth minute as
Emma LaChance finished off a ball that was initially saved by the YellowJacket keeper. The ball sat on the goal line before LaChance knocked into the back of the net. Seven minutes later
Kebra Rogers hit a ball across the six yard box; it was deflected in the net by a Wisconsin-Superior defender. Rogers got in the scorebook in 29
th minute as she received a pass just inside the 18 yard box and hit the ball low in to the right corner.
Carly Denler scored her first goal as member of Minnesota Morris in the 40
th minute as she hit a ball from about 25 yards out.
Emily Moore picked up the assist on the goal as UMM went into the break with a 4-0 lead.
The YellowJackets got on the board in the 52
nd minute thanks to a free kick that sailed over
Torri Jordan and into the net. LaChance responded immediately scoring less than a minute later. Rogers took a shot that hit the post and slid across to LaChance who knocked it in.
Rachael Berns added a goal in the 66
th minute after Moore gave her the ball off a great pass.
Meaghan Delaney scored her first goal as a Cougar in the 72
nd minute as she created space in the middle of the field and put the shot over the head of the Wisconsin-Superior keeper.
Minnesota Morris will now host Northland and St. Scholastica this weekend.
