MORRIS, Minn. – After their longest home stretch of the season the Cougars (16-5, 7-1 UMAC) will head south for three matches this weekend. It starts Friday with a match against Martin Luther (9-12, 4-3 UMAC). On Saturday the Cougars will battle Bethany Lutheran (4-12, 3-4 UMAC) and Buena Vista (15-8, 3-1 IIAC). This weekend will be the second match against each opponent this season.
The Cougars have won eight straight matches going into this weekend. In addition, they have won all eight of the matches via the sweep.
Morris swept Martin Luther September 26 in Morris, they followed that up with a sweep of Bethany Lutheran the next day. Buena Vista beat Morris 3-1 at the Gustavus Adolphus Tournament on September 12.
Minnesota Morris could clinch a spot in the UMAC Tournament with wins over both Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran this weekend.
On the year, Minnesota Morris has been able to out hit their opponents by almost 100 percentage points. They are also averaging three more kills per set than the opponent in 2014. The defense has been just as important, as they lead their opponent in both categories.
Nationally, Morris ranks 37
th in the nation in kills per set and 38
th in assists per set.
