Cougars Drop Heartbreaker in Double OT

DULUTH, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (14-6-1) battled with the top seeded Saints (15-6-1) on Saturday but fell 1-0 in double overtime in the UMAC Championship. St. Scholastica won the match with a goal in the 106th minute.

Torri Jordan kept the Cougars in the match all game long, making a total of nine saves on the chilly, windy afternoon. The Minnesota Morris offense had five shots on goal in the match, just missing on a couple great looks on net.

The Saints had a slight advantage in shots in the first half, doubling the Cougars 4-2. They would try to assert themselves in the second half, taking nine more shots in the second half, but Jordan was there to make the necessary stops.

Morris had a couple great looks in the first overtime period but had one shot blocked and one saved.

Just past the midway point of the second overtime St. Scholastica's Casey Mitchel found an opening in the middle of the field and put the ball just inside the post, giving them the 1-0 win.
