MAYVILLE, N.D. – Minnesota Morris (1-5) could not keep up with the Mayville State Comets (5-3) on Tuesday night, losing 89-56. The Comets shot 67.3% from the field including 70.0% in the first half. Morris was held to just 36% from the field on 18-50 shooting on the night.
Mayville began the game on a 10-0 run putting the Cougars behind the eight ball early. Morris never got closer than seven and the Comets lead grew to 16 with 6:41 left in the first half. The Comets largest lead of the half came at 43-22 with just 50 seconds left.
It didn't get much better for UMM in the second half and the Comets pulled away thanks to a 24-4 run after Morris started the half with a basket by
John Haseman.
CD Douglas was the Cougars leading scorer with 20 points on 7-11 shooting. Haseman added 11 on 4-5 shooting. On the year Haseman is shooting 79.3% from the field, missing just six of his 29 attempts from the field.
The Cougars will try to rebound on Thursday night against Presentation at 7:30 in the PE Center.
