MAYVILLE, N.D. – After a week off the Cougars (1-5) were back in action taking on the Mayville State Comets (5-3). Minnesota Morris was unable to pick up the win falling 77-71 despite outshooting MSU. Mayville had an 18-6 advantage at the line to help them edge the Cougars.
Morris took an early lead and held on to it for most of the first half. The lead was as large as 12 with the Cougars leading 30-18 with 4:19 left in the half. However the Comets then went on a 14-0 run to take a 32-30 lead.
Cori Becker hit a jumper to tie the game at 32 which is where the game remained as they went to the halftime break.
Mayville State would take a five point lead over the Cougars three minutes into the second half. Morris would answer with an 11-2 run, taking a 47-41 lead. Morris would not relinquish the lead until the ten minute mark when the Comets took a 52-51 lead.
The Comets lead would grow to eight at 60-52 but the Cougars quickly tied it at 62. The lead switched hands a couple times but Mayville State would get the last punch, finishing the game on a 7-0 run to win 77-71.
Kendra Wycoff finished with a team high 25 points.

Kayla Kraemer each tacked on 13.
Tori Holt also finished in double figures, scoring ten points while grabbing eight rebounds.
