Cougars Pick Up A Pair

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Cougars are now 3-1 on the young season after earning a couple victories to close out their tournament in at Colorado College. Minnesota Morris beat Oswego State and Blackburn College 3-1 this afternoon. Emily Auch recorded her 1,000 career kill during the match with Oswego. 

Auch not only reached 1,000 kills on Saturday, she also had 21 kills in the match with Oswego, one shy of her career high. Cori Becker added 11 kills and Abby Tietz had ten. Kayley Siekman had 29 assists and Brooke Decker added 15. The team racked up 65 digs in the four set victory. 

Morris ran away with the first set, winning 25-14. Set two and three were neck and neck. UMM took set two 25-22 but dropped the third set 26-24. Minnesota Morris responded in the fourth set, pulling away for a 25-17 set four win.

Chad Braegelmann switched a few things up in the second match of the day, playing a total of 14 players in the match. Set one was 25-10 romp in favor of the Cougars. Blackburn came back with a 25-18 win in the second set but the Cougars settled down after that loss.

Minnesota Morris won the third and fourth sets by identical 25-18 scores. Marissa Ekness led the way with 11 kills, a career high for the freshman. Justine Flattum had a career high 29 assists, setting up the offense. Amanda Weir had four block assists which helped the Cougars hold Blackburn to an attack percentage of .000.
