MORRIS, Minn. – The Cougars (12-5, 4-1 UMAC) took care of business on Saturday afternoon sweeping Bethany Lutheran (3-9, 2-2 UMAC) 25-12, 25-13, 25-22. Morris hit .326 as a team with 40 kills in 95 swings. They also had nine service aces in the match, the third highest total on the year.
The defense had nine blocks and forced 20 errors by the Vikings offense. The nine blocks tied a team high in 2014.
Hannah Terhaar had 15 digs to lead the defense, nine more than anyone else on the team.
Emily Auch led the way offensively with 11 kills and a .308 attack percentage.
Morris jumped out to a 17-4 lead in the first set and cruised to a 25-12 win. In the second set, UMM went on a 10-2 run, building an 18-8 lead. They would end up taking the set 25-13. It was a battle in set three as the Vikings tried to avoid the sweep. With the score 20-16, the Vikings pulled to within one but could not find a way to tie the set as Morris held on for a 25-22 win.
