Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. – In their first match of the day, the Cougars (5-2) picked up a mid-morning victory, beating Macalester 25-22, 25-22, 25-19.
Emily Auch led the offense once again going for 12 kills and 12 digs. She now has 955 digs in her career.
The Cougars held a slight lead early in set one, going up 8-6 after an ace. Macalester rallied back and took a 15-12 lead halfway through the set forcing a UMM timeout. It was then Morris' turn to rally and they took a 17-16 lead. Macalester tied it up a couple times late in the set but the Cougars held them off winning the set 25-22.
The Cougars used the momentum for the set one win to take a 7-2 lead early. The Scots closed to within one at 15-14 a quick 3-0 run gave UMM an 18-14 lead. The Scots tightened the set up on a few occasions but were forced to take a timeout, trailing 22-19. Minnesota Morris held on for a 25-22 set two win.
UMM jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third set, hoping to complete a sweep with a big set three victory. The lead grew to 17-8 as Morris tried to ice the match. Macalester tried to rally and pulled to within four at 20-16. The Cougars did not let MAC get any closer as they took the set 25-19, completing the sweep.

Marissa Ekness each had eight kills in the first match of the day.
Hannah Terhaar had 17 digs to lead the defense.
Brooke Decker had 20 assists. Morris will now play Wisconsin-Stout at noon.
