Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (6-2) completed a perfect 2-0 day with a four set win over Wisconsin Stout, 25-20, 15-25, 25-18, 25-21.
Abby Tietz led the way with 13 kills, one ahead of
Emily Auch.
Marissa Ekness had a career high 19 digs to lead the defense.
The Cougars used an 85% side out percentage in the first set to beat Stout 25-20. The Cougars hit .286 in the set, which featured 14 tie scorers and four lead changes. Stout took it to UMM in the second set, hitting .306 on their way to a 25-15 rout.
Morris took control of the match in the third set holding Stout to just .114 hitting. The set featured eight tie and three lead changes but the Cougars pulled away late in the set. It was a close fourth set despite the Cougars holding Stout to just .026 hitting. UMM held off Stout to win the set 25-21 despite just one lead change.
The Cougars are now off until next weekend when they head to the Gustavus Adolphus Tournament.
