ABERDEEN, S.D. – Minnesota Morris (2-9) dropped their first game of 2015, 81-79 in overtime to Presentation (5-6) on Tuesday night.
Emily Auch tied a career high with 23 points in the loss, as she shot 9-13 from the field.
Kendra Wycoff had 19 points and
Jordan Halverson added ten off the bench for the Cougars.
The Cougars started the game by scoring the first six points of the contest. Morris would hold on to the lead until the Saints tied it up with 2:42 left in the first half. Presentation finished the half on a 11-3 run to take a four point lead into the locker room.
Presentation's lead would extend to eight after six minutes of play in the second half. Trailing 39-31 with 14:04 left in the half, the Cougars went on a 7-0 run to pull within one less than two minutes later. The Saints responded and took a 13 point lead with 6:46 left in the game. Morris still trailed by ten with just over three minutes left in the game but that lead was not safe. The Cougars scored nine straight and pulled within one at 66-65. The Cougars tied it at 68 and the game went to overtime with the score knotted at 71.
Kayla Kraemer struck first in the overtime session, hitting a three to give UMM a 74-71 lead. The Cougars would hold the lead until a three pointer by the Saints gave them a one point lead with 37 second left on the clock. Morris could not convert late in the overtime session and fell 81-79.
Morris will be back in action on Saturday as they host Crown to open up UMAC play.
