MORRIS, Minn. – The Cougar (19-10, 6-0 UMAC) volleyball team heads to St. Paul for the UMAC Game of the Week when they face off with Northwestern (22-8, 6-0 UMAC) at 7 p.m. Earlier this year the Cougars beat the Eagles in five sets in a non-conference matchup at the UMAC Preview.
The winner of tonight's match will clinch the number one seed in the UMAC Tournament and most likely win the UMAC Regular Season Title outright. Each team has just two matches left in UMAC play, leading up to next week's UMAC Tournament, where a bid to the NCAA Tournament is on the line.
The Eagles have been the favorite in the UMAC all season long. Lindsey Peterson has had a strong sophomore campaign for the Eagles, as the Sheffield, Iowa; native has racked up 373 kills – which ranks second in the conference. Shanay Gonder's 0.97 blocks per set average and .300 hitting percentage lead the UMAC, while Jackie Foster sits second in the league with her 500 digs. Northwestern has been dominant at the net this fall, as they are hitting a conference-best .235 as a team and have tallied 237 total blocks to lead the UMAC.
- UMM is riding a five match winning streak and are 9-2 in their last 11 matches. The Eagles lead the all-time series 25-6, winning 24 of the last 27.
- UNW has won 16 of its last 17 matches, including a 14-game winning streak from Sept. 19 to Oct. 17.
-Morris is 18-1 when they hit .200 in a match and 1-9 when they fail to reach that mark offensively.
- The Eagles have posted a 27-game winning streak in UMAC contests. UNW's last conference loss came against Minnesota Morris on Oct. 5, 2013.

Marissa Ekness has at least ten kills in all but four matches this year. She ranks 11th in the NCAA in kills per set (4.35).
