SUPERIOR, Wis. – A late goal by Wisconsin-Superior knocked the Cougars out of the UMAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. It is the first time since 2006 that Morris has not reached the UMAC Championship.
The YellowJackets seemed to be in control of the match in the first half, racking up several shots. Despite giving up five shots on goal and 14 shots overall in the first half the Cougars were able to keep UWS off the score board.
Cody Christ made all five saves for Morris in the first half.
Alex Keller had the lone shot on goal for the Cougars in the first 45 minutes.
Superior kept pushing the tempo in the second half putting up four shots in the opening twenty minutes of the half. Morris'
Bona Usha had a shot saved in the 63
rd minute.
Wisconsin-Superior broke through in the 81
st minute when Daniel Kearns sent home a corner kick from his teammate Joey Gustafson. Unfortunately UMM was unable to tie the match in final nine minutes.
Morris was unable to get much going offensively, finishing the match with just five shots and just two on net.
