FULTON, Mo. – Despite a late rally the Cougars (4-6, 4-5 UMAC) fell 37-20 to Westminster (5-4, 5-4 UMAC) in the final game of the 2015 season. Morris was able to rack up 303 yards of offense but turned the ball over three times. The Cougars rushed for 103 yards, giving them over 1,000 on the season.
Donnie Mavencamp finished the game 11-17 for 157 yards and two touchdowns.
Evan Guffey had 14 yards rushing and 85 yards receiving.
Taylor Holleman led the team with 43 yards rushing; he also had 56 yards receiving.
Westminster started quickly scoring a pair of touchdowns in the opening 3:35 of the game. Latif Adams scored first, going 60 yards on the first play of the Blue Jays opening drive. On the Blue Jays second drive of the game Peair Howard hauled in a 64 yard pass from Eain Roberts to make it 14-0.
A 46 yard punt return set Westminster up at the one yard line early in the second quarter. Three plays later Adams scored his second touchdown of the game from two yards out. Adams finished with 212 yards and four touchdowns rushing, the most by any back against the Cougars all season.
Minnesota Morris was able to get on the board late in the half.
Evan Guffey finished off a three play drive with a one yard touchdown run. Mavencamp hit
Kyle Petermeier for 31 yards to set up the touchdown.
The Blue Jays extended their lead to 30-7 with a pair of third quarter touchdowns.
Donnie Mavencamp did his best to bring UMM back in the fourth quarter. Holleman grabbed his first touchdown pass of the year early in the third quarter from 16 yards out.
Evan Guffey scored about three minutes later on a 46 yard pass from Mavencamp to bring UMM within ten.
Jake Wirz had a career high 18 tackles on the afternoon.
Austin Richard had five tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Westminster would hold the Cougars there and then scored a late touchdown to win 37-20.
