MARSHALL, Minn. – In their experience under the new NCAA rules Minnesota Morris fell 75-52 to former conference foe Southwest Minnesota State in an exhibition game. The Cougars were led by freshman
Elli Stevenson who had 16 points. Morris outscored the Mustangs 24-18 in the third quarter.
Minnesota Morris' freshman class contributed 35 points on the evening.
Kendra Raths was the second Cougar to finish the game in double figures, scoring ten points. Morris shot 42.9% from the field in the second half.
The Mustangs did not shoot the ball well in the first half but were still able to lead 27-16 at the break. SMSU outscored UMM 28-9 in points off turnovers in the game.
The Cougars officially begin their season on Saturday night in Moorhead, against the Concordia Cobbers.
