MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa – For the first time since 2012 the Cougars (2-2, 2-1 UMAC) picked up their second straight road victory in a single season, after a come-from-behind 33-25 win over Iowa Wesleyan (0-4, 0-3 UMAC). Jon Hoff tied a school record by making four field goals in the game.

Devan Griffin did throw a touchdown pass which makes him the first known player in Cougar history to have a running, receiving and passing touchdown in a single season.
Morris scored first, doing so on a 28 yard field goal by Hoff with 12:08 left in the first quarter. The Tigers took their first lead of the game early in the second quarter taking advantage of a Cougars fumble. Hoff got on the board once again when he hit a 20 yard field goal after the Cougars recovered an IWC fumble.
Chandler Erickson returned a punt 43 yards to the Tigers 22 yard line with just 38 seconds left in the half. On the first play of the drive Griffin found
Kyle Petermeier for a 22 yard touchdown to give the Cougars a 13-10 halftime lead.
Iowa Wesleyan went on a 15 play drive to start the second half and retook the lead with a 19 yard run.
Another Tigers turnover setup the Cougars in a great position.
Jeremy Sloneker intercepted a pass and returned it four yards to the IWC 11 yard line. Morris would settle for another Hoff field goal, this one 26 yards, and the score was 17-16 with 13:10 left.
On their next possession Hoff hit his fourth field goal of the game to put UMM up 19-17. Morris had driven all the way to the three yard line before the drive stalled out.
The Cougars did not lead long as the Tigers took advantage of a 58 yard kick return, setting up IWC on the Cougars 32 with 8:24 left. Wesleyan scored a touchdown to go up 25-19.
Minnesota Morris took the ball back with 5:43 left and needing a touchdown to tie the game. UMM went on a 12 play drive that consumed 4:28 off the clock. On the drive Griffin was 5-7 for 38 yards and rushed for 20 yards. His last rush, an eight yard scamper, tied the game with 1:07 left. Hoff nailed the extra point and Morris led 26-25.
The Tigers took over with 58 seconds left looking to pick up the late win.
Clayton Saiz sealed the win for UMM with a 35 yard interception return for a touchdown with 35 seconds remaining.
Griffin finished the day with 138 yards passing and 58 yards rushing. Petermeier had eight receptions for 104 yards and a score.
Jacob Wirz had 13 tackles to lead the defense.
Colin Everson had two sacks and eight total tackles.
Morris will look for their third win of the year next Saturday when they host MacMurray for the 2015 Homecoming game. Kickoff is scheduled for noon and fans are encouraged to wear gold.
