SPOKANE, Wash. – Minnesota Morris (0-3) fell behind early to #14 Whitworth (2-0) and never recovered. The Pirates found the back of the net nine times. The first two goals of the match came just about a minute apart starting in the 18
th minute.
A Minnesota Morris player picked up a red card in the 27
th minute which meant UMM had to play a man down for the final 63 minutes of action. Whitworth added another goal before halftime to increase their lead to three. Morris could not get much going offensively failing to get off a shot.
The game remained a three goal game for the first 30 minutes of the second half. However the floodgates opened up late and the Pirates found the back of the net six times in the final 15 minutes of action.
Morris returns to action Wednesday when they play Carleton College in Morris at 4 p.m.
