Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Whitewater tops Cougars at NCAAs

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Minnesota Morris women's soccer team faced a tough opponent in No. 7 UW-Whitewater in their first ever NCAA Tournament game Saturday and fell to the Warhawks 3-0 in a first round game at Fiskum Field.

The Cougars used stout defense, compiling a pair of shutouts along the way to winning the UMAC championship last weekend. The same tactic would need to be used Saturday against the high-octane offensive attack of the Warhawks. UMM senior goalkeeper Torri Jordan, playing near her hometown of Fort Atkinson, Wis., did her part to keep the Cougars in the contest throughout the first half. She made 10 impressive saves and only allowed one goal to give the Cougars a chance in the second half.

The Warhawks kept the offensive pressure up in the second half and were able to add on to the scoreboard. Carly Pottle's goal in the 56th minute gave UWW a 2-0 lead. Two minutes later, Brianna Reed made the score 3-0. Pottle had one goal and two assists for the winners.

Jordan ended up with 17 saves in her collegiate finale.

The Cougars end the season with an 8-8-3 overall record.
