Superior Pulls Away From Cougars

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Minnesota Morris (10-11, 6-7 UMAC) did their best to stay with the top team in the UMAC but in the end Wisconsin-Superior (19-2, 13-0 UMAC) pulled away for a 71-51 win. Morris was held to 36.2% shooting and no Cougar finished the game in double figures. Superior outscored the Cougars 17-2 in second chance points.

The Cougars led 18-16 after the first quarter of play, in large part due to a 9-2 start for UMM. Wisconsin-Superior outscored UMM 15-9 in the second quarter to take a four point lead. In the first half the Yellowjackets outscored Morris 16-8 in points in the paint.

Morris cut the deficit to three at 34-31 with 7:56 left in the third quarter. Superior would prove why they are undefeated in the UMAC by going on a 12-0 run to go up 46-31. Minnesota Morris never recovered and the Yellowjackets would win going away.
