DULUTH, Minn. - In a key UMAC matchup, Minnesota Morris fell to St. Scholastica, 82-73, Saturday afternoon in men's basketball action in Duluth.
St. Scholastica made nine 3-pointers in the first half in building a 42-27 halftime lead on the Cougars.
The Cougars would not go out quietly though. A
Jeremy Halverson 3 cut the deficit to single digits at 47-38 early in the second half. The deficit was down to 4 following a
CD Douglas lay-in then was down to 2 at 52-50 after a pair of
James Sukanen free throws with 13:22 remaining. The Saints countered with an 8-0 run to push the lead back up to 10 at 60-50.
The Saints lead would stay around the 10-point edge the rest of the game.
Noah Grove led all scorers with 20 points. Douglas scored 18 and added six assists.
Jeffrey Halverson scored 11 and pulled down seven rebounds.
Minnesota Morris (9-10, 7-3 in UMAC) remains on the road for their next game, Wednesday at Crown.
