Cougars tie scoring mark in blowout win

MORRIS, Minn. - Minnesota Morris tied a program mark of 120 points in the team's 120-76 win Saturday over North Central in UMAC men's basketball action at Jim Gremmels Court.

In the program's UMAC era, the Cougars also tallied 120 points in a win over North Central in the 2004-05 season.

Despite the extreme cold temperatures outside, the Cougars made it red hot inside Jim Gremmels Court. For the game, Minnesota Morris shot 62.7 percent from the floor (42-for-67), 55.2 percent from 3-point range (16-for-29), and 90.9 percent from the free throw line (20-for-22).

Leading the hot shooting for the Cougars were CD Douglas and Jeffrey Halverson. The duo combined to shoot 17-for-20 from the floor with Douglas (9-for-11) scoring 27 points and Halverson (8-for-9) adding 23. Douglas made all nine of his free throw attempts while Halverson drained all six of his shots from 3-point range. Jeffrey's brother, Jeremy, also was proficient from downtown as he made four of six from deep en route to 14 points. Noah Grove scored 17 points and James Sukanen added 10.

Minnesota Morris (5-8, 4-1 in UMAC) travels to play at Martin Luther Wednesday.
