MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Minnesota Morris volleyball team made quick work of North Central Saturday (25-14, 25-9, 25-17) to win their sixth straight match in UMAC action in Minneapolis.
North Central scored the first three points of the match, but the Cougars countered by scoring nine of the next 10 points to gain the early edge. UMM went on runs of 4-0, 3-0, and 5-0 to go up 24-9. The Rams scored five straight before a
Whitney Schwartz kill ended the first set in favor of the Cougars.
After winning the second set handily, UMM raced out to a 7-1 lead in the third. The Rams later cut it to four, but the Cougars maintained a sizable lead throughout. Schwartz killed two more down the stretch to secure the victory.
Schwartz led UMM with 12 kills.
Layne Herrmann had 29 assists and six aces.
Alyssa Ukestad led with nine digs.
Minnesota Morris (14-8, 9-2 in UMAC) returns home to face UMAC-leading Northwestern Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the PE Center.
