CLERMONT, Fla. - Minnesota Morris scored six unanswered runs in their final three times at-bat and claimed a 6-4 come-from-behind win over Bates College Sunday in softball action in central Florida.
The Cougars trailed 3-0 through three and a half innings, but started their comeback attempt in their half of the fourth. After
Kallie Wycoff hit a one-out single,
Michelle O'Rourke knocked her in with an RBI double.
UMM would tie the game in the fifth.
Lacey Sullivan got on base with a two-out single. A Wycoff RBI single plated
Paige Dahlberg then another O'Rourke run-producing hit scored Sullivan to tie the game at 3.
The Cougars put together another multi-run inning in the sixth.
Emily Nordquist's pinch hit single started the frame. An error gave the Cougars their first lead at 4-3. Sullivan and Wycoff added insurance runs with RBI singles to give UMM a 6-3 lead.
Bates scored one in the seventh and loaded the bases before
Madison Langrehr got the final out on a pop up.
Sullivan and Wycoff each went 3-for-4. O'Rourke and
Lydia Mann each collected two hits.
Earlier in the day, Minnesota Morris had another comeback attempt against Marian. After trailing early 5-0, the Cougars scored six times in the fifth to take a 6-5 lead. Marian, however, scored six times in the final two innings to claim an 11-7 win.
