Cougars lose two at Northwestern

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Morris' four-game win streak came to an end Tuesday as Northwestern took a pair from the Cougars in UMAC softball action in St. Paul.

Game 1: UNW 6, UMM 4
The Cougars trailed 1-0 through three innings. In the fourth, Emily Nordquist led off with a single to right center. Two batters later, Autumn Mahoney hit a two-out triple to left to score Nordquist and equal the score. Northwestern reclaimed the lead, however, with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-1 lead. Megan Knickerbocker cut into the lead with an RBI single in the fifth. The Eagles scored twice more to take a 6-2 lead into the seventh. Morgan Mathews and Becca Holland singled in front of Knickerbocker who would drive both in with a single to center to end the game's scoring. Knickerbocker went 3-for-4 in the opener and Mahoney had two hits.

Game 2: UNW 8, UMM 0
Northwestern scored in each of the five innings, including four in the fifth to put an early end to the contest. Kallie Wycoff had two of the seven hits in the nightcap.

Minnesota Morris (10-22, 4-8 in UMAC) returns home to face Martin Luther Wednesday at Big Cat Stadium at 2 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader.
