VALLEY CITY, N.D. - Minnesota Morris stepped out of conference Wednesday for a road game at Valley City State. The Cougars scored first, but were unable to keep the lead and fell, 13-7, in baseball action.
The Cougars put together four hits and scored three runs in the second. With runners on second and third,
Nash Kramer drove in two with an RBI single left. Later, with the bases loaded,
Trent Johnson hit a sacrifice fly to right to plate Kramer for the 3-0 UMM lead.Â
Valley City countered with five runs through in their half of the second to take a two-run lead. They would score in six of their eight innings at the plate and took an 11-4 lead into the eighth.
UMM tallied two in the eighth.
Blake Haugen and
Zach Kuefler each singled. With two outs, Johnson would deliver an RBI single to left to plate pinch runner
Mitch Baumann.
Bryce Jergenson followed with a single to score Kuefler. Kuefler added an RBI single in the ninth.
Kuefler went 3-for-5 while Kramer went 2-for-3 as the Cougars had 11 hits.
Minnesota Morris (5-18) returns home to face Northland Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
