Cougars drop two in Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Minnesota Morris softball team started their busy travel weekend with a UMAC doubleheader Saturday at UW-Superior. The Cougars had trouble scoring on the Yellowjackets' home turf and dropped both games by scores of 4-1 and 12-2.

Game 1: UWS 4, UMM 1
The Cougars did get on the board first. Megan Knickerbocker led off the game with a single to left. Three batters later, Kallie Wycoff would drive her in on a single to left center. UW-Superior would tie the game in the first then take the lead with two in the third and one more in the fourth. Knickerbocker later added a double. Becca Holland went 2-for-3. Madison Langrehr did not allow a walk in the circle.

Game 2: UWS 12, UMM 2
A UWS 3-run home run in the fifth put an early end to the second game. UMM got one of their runs in the second. Wycoff doubled to lead off the frame. Clare Hamer would later drive in her on a single. In the fifth, Emily Nordquist delivered an RBI single. Nordquist and Lacey Sullivan had two hits each.

Minnesota Morris (10-26, 4-10 in UMAC) heads south to New Ulm to face Martin Luther Sunday at 1 p.m.
