MORRIS, Minn. - Minnesota Morris was on the home diamond for the second straight day as they entertained Mayville State in a non-conference baseball matchup. The Comets put up a crooked number in the third to help propel them to a 7-1 win.
On a day where eight seniors were honored after the game, three seniors saw time on the mound for the Cougars.
Brock Burquest got the start and allowed only two hits over three innings. He struck out four and gave up four runs, but only one was earned.
Jordan Steffer followed with two innings of work and allowed two runs (one earned) while striking out one.
Trent Johnson came in from the outfield and tossed three innings, allowing two hits while striking out three.
The Cougars scored their run in the sixth.
Jackson Gessell hit a two-out double down the left field line.
Mack O'Neil followed with a double to left to plate Gessell.
Gessell had three of the Cougars' six hits on senior day as he added another double.
Minnesota Morris (6-20) returns to the Cougar Diamond for the third straight day Monday for a UMAC doubleheader with Martin Luther beginning at 1:30 p.m.
