MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Minnesota Morris scored early, but were not able to hold the lead as they fell, 2-1, to Wisconsin Lutheran Sunday in the women's soccer season opener in Milwaukee.
The Cougars got on the scoreboard in the game's second minute.
Sam Tate fed
Brooke Lorentz on a pass that Lorentz booted over the WLC keeper into the net for a 1-0 UMM lead. The Warriors were able to tie the game nine minutes later on a goal from Mady Hirsch.
It remained tied at 1 at through halftime and through the first 25 minutes of the second half. In the 78th minute, WLC's Helen Joyce beat UMM goalkeeper
Megan Tschida for the eventual game-winner.
Tschida made seven saves for the Cougars.
Minnesota Morris (0-1) returns to Morris for their home opener Tuesday against Hamline at 2:30 p.m. at the Cougar Soccer Field.
