Men’s Soccer Concludes Season

UMN Morris defeats North Central, 3-2

MINNEAPOLIS – The UMN Morris men's soccer team (5-14, 3-5 UMAC) closed out its 2019 season with a 3-2 win at North Central (3-14, 1-7 UMAC). The Cougars were eliminated from a UMAC Tournament berth on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Carter Watkinson put the Cougars on the board in the fifth minute on his second career goal.
  • Elliot Lebsack tied the match at 1-1 in the 17th minute.
  • The score remained tied 1-1 until Devon Thompson put the Cougars back in front at 2-1 in the 77th minute.
  • Gabe Arreguin converted a penalty kick goal in the 80th minute in his final game as a Cougar to make it 3-1.
  • Lebsack scored his second goal of the day in the 82nnd minute to bring the score to 3-2.
  • North Central outshot UMN Morris, 24-16.

NOTABLES

  • The Cougars are set to return 18 student-athletes for the 2020 season
  • Arreguin went 2-for-2 on penalty kick attempts in 2019.
