MORRIS, Minn. – Junior Sam Tate scored a pair of second-half goals en route to a 2-0 victory for the Minnesota Morris women's soccer team (1-2-0) over Buena Vista (1-5-0) Sunday afternoon at Cougar Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The two teams went into halftime tied at 0-0 with the Cougars outshooting the Beavers, 16-3.

• Tate broke the scoreless tie at 60:10 with her first goal of the season.

• Then 7:36 later, Tate netted her second goal of the day to put the Cougars in front, 2-0.

• Bernadette Cienik recorded three saves for the shutout victory.

• The Cougars outshot Buena Vista, 38-5.

NOTABLES

• Cienik, a freshman, tallied her first career win and shutout.

• Brooke Lorentz paced the Cougar offense with 13 shot attempts.

• Monica Calderon finished with 10 shot attempts.
