ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's basketball team (8-6, 4-2 UMAC) dropped a 76-62 decision at Northwestern (9-6, 5-1 UMAC) Wednesday. Mia Wassink led the Cougars with 15 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Midway through the first quarter, the two teams were tied at 11-11, but Northwestern closed out the first quarter with an 11-5 run.
- The Cougars were able to bring the deficit to five points at 22-17 with 8:05 to play in the first half but Northwestern held a 37-28 advantage at halftime.
- Lexus Eagle Chasing brought the game back to four points at 39-35 with 7:58 to go in the third quarter with a 3-pointer, but Northwestern then went on a 7-0 run to make it 46-35.
- With 3:41 to play in regulation, Lexie Winter hit a 3-pointer to bring the Cougars back within five points at 66-61, but once again Northwestern responded with a 7-0 run.
NOTABLES
- Along with her 15 points, Wassink tallied seven rebounds.
- Eagle Chasing tallied 13 points and seven rebounds.
