Box Score SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UMN Morris women's basketball team (8-7, 4-3 UMAC) dropped an 80-60 decision at UW-Superior (10-5, 6-1 UMAC) Sunday afternoon. Senior Abby Van Kempen scored 17 points and tallied 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Yellowjackets controlled the game from early on as they built a 17-4 lead over the Cougars midway through the first.
- The Cougars battled back to bring the deficit to 19-13 after the first quarter.
- UW-Superior was able to take a double-digit lead early in the second quarter and then took a 39-24 lead into halftime.
- After a pair of free throws from Van Kempen brought the game within seven points with 3:18 to play in the third, the Yellowjackets used an 11-1 run to lead 58-41 after three quarters of play.
- The Yellowjackets held on to the double-digit lead in the fourth quarter as they picked up an 80-60 victory over the Cougars.
