MORRIS, Minn. – The UMN Morris men's basketball team (6-13, 2-8 UMAC) hung tough but ultimately fell to Wisconsin-Superior (13-7, 10-1 UMAC), 64-59, Saturday afternoon inside the Cougar Sports Center. Dillon Haider paced the Cougar offense with 17 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Superior scored the first six points of the game and held a lead over the Cougars until Nick Peterson hit a 3-pointer to tie things up at 15-all with 8:37 to go in the first half.
- The two teams continued to trade baskets down the stretch of the first half and the Cougars took a 28-26 lead into halftime.
- The Yellowjackets opened up the second half with a 7-0 run to take a 33-28 lead with 15:22 to play in regulation.
- With 10:58 to go in regulation, UW-Superior built a seven-point lead at 45-38, but a pair of Kenneth Riley free throws capped off an 8-0 run for the Cougars.
- The Cougars were able to tie the game two more times down the stretch, but they were never able to regain the lead as UW-Superior secured the 64-59 win.
NOTABLES
- Freshman Jaret Johnson tallied 10 points for his 11th double-digit game of the season.
- Peterson led the Cougars with seven rebounds.
- The UMN Morris bench outscored the UW-Superior bench, 29-9.
