MORRIS, Minn. – The UMN Morris women's basketball team (15-9, 10-5 UMAC) extended its winning streak to five games with a 94-35 victory over Martin Luther (3-21, 3-13 UMAC) Wednesday night inside the Cougar Sports Center. All 14 Cougars that played scored at least two points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Lexus Eagle Chasing opened up the scoring with a layup 34 seconds into the game, Katie Aguilar hit a 3-pointer to give Martin Luther its only lead of the game.
- Eagle Chasing then responded with a 3-pointer of her own to put the Cougars back in front. For Eagle Chasing, she would go on to score the Cougars' first nine points of the game.
- After the first 10 minutes of play, the Cougars held a 21-12 lead over Martin Luther.
- During the second quarter, UMN Morris outscored Martin Luther, 24-6, to take a 45-18 lead into halftime.
- Coming out of the break, the Cougars found their stride in the third quarter as the were 13-for-19 from the floor and 7-for-7 from the free throw line en route to a 36-point quarter.
- With one quarter to play, UMN Morris held an 81-26 lead over the Knights.
- With the game in hand, the Cougars outscored the Knights, 13-9, in the fourth quarter en route to the 94-35 victory.
NOTABLES
- Eagle Chasing tallied a season-best 24 points.
- Van Kempen is four blocks away from setting the school record for career blocks with 201 (Abby Fragodt '14 - 200).
- The Cougars tallied a season-best 27 assists.
