ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team won its second straight match on Tuesday afternoon, going on the road for a 2-1 victory at Crown College. The Cougars improve to 5-9-0 (5-4-0 UMAC) on the season.

The Cougars jumped ahead early on, scoring on a corner kick for the second match running as Hannah Pedderson headed home the delivery from Caroline O'Donnell in the fifth minute to make it 1-0. Minnesota Morris repeatedly broke in on Crown's goal the remainder of the half, but were denied by Molly Schmitz, who made saves on Monica Calderon, Khloee Zelinske, and Kim Peters to keep it a one-goal game at the half.

The second half was more of the same for UMN Morris as the Cougars kept Schmitz busy throughout. The Crown keeper was credited with five more saves in the first 25 minutes of the second half before Minnesota Morris got the breakthrough it needed as Chloe Keller put away her first collegiate goal with assists from BeBe Say and Matteya Borah.

Things tightened in the 76th minute when Dabilo Maphosa was able to put the ball home past Bernadette Cienik just before colliding with the Minnesota Morris goalkeeper to cut the Cougar lead in half. That proved to be Crown's final shot of the match though, with the Cougars continuing to keep the ball in the offensive final third throughout much of the remainder of regulation.

Minnesota Morris ended with a huge edge in total shots in the match, finishing with 14 that were on goal. Peters led the Cougars with four total shots, while Pedderson and Calderon each had three. Cienik made one save on the day.

The Cougars continue their road trip on Friday with 1 p.m. match in New Ulm against Martin Luther College.
