SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team was eliminated the semifinals of the UMAC Tournament on Wednesday by the University of Wisconsin-Superior, 6-0. The Cougars close out the season with an overall record of 6-14-0, including a 6-8-0 record in the UMAC.
Facing the No. 1 seed in the UMAC Tournament on the road without a couple of key contributors, Minnesota Morris was faced with a tough task. The Cougars put up a good fight defensively, particularly in the first half. The Yellowjackets, however, were able to score in the 17th and 24th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
After not having a shot attempt in the first half, Minnesota Morris committed more numbers forward in the second half but UW-Superior stood firm. A second goal in the match from Annah Schussman in the 57th minute more or less clinched it for Yellowjackets as they took a three-goal lead with just a little more than half-an-hour to play.
With time ticking down, UW-Superior tacked on goals in the 78th, 84th, and 88th minutes to close it out.
