Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Blanks Crown, 3-0

The Cougars outshot the Storm, 21-3, in the match and didn’t allow a shot on goal on Wednesday night.

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team notched a 3-0 shutout victory over Crown College on Wednesday night. The victory for the Cougars improves the team's record to 2-2-1 on the season and in the UMAC.

The Cougars ended the match with a 21-3 edge in total shots. Ten of those shots for the Cougars were on goal, while the Storm had zero shots on target, making for a relatively easy night's work for Jake Peterson.

The scoring started early for Minnesota Morris, with Carson Friestad putting his first of the year in the back of the net with an assist to Devon Thompson. The Cougars continued to pepper the Crown goal with shots, four of which called Tim Stariha into action for the Storm for saves. A breakthrough happened in the closing seconds before halftime when Corbin McCall scored to put UMN Morris up, 2-0, heading to the half. Carter Watkinson assisted on the goal, the first of two on the night for the sophomore.

The second half was more of the same, with the Cougars dominating possession and pressing for more goals. Addison Fugitt put Minnesota Morris ahead, 3-0, with a goal in the 56th minute assisted by Watkinson.

McCall ended the game with six total shots, three of which were on target. Watkinson had five shots, two on goal. Thompson had three shots (one on frame), while Tristan Cruz and Shane McConahy had two shots apiece.

Minnesota Morris comes back to Big Cat Stadium on Saturday to host North Central University at 1 p.m.
