ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team was put away early in its final non-conference match of the season, falling at St. Catherine University on Tuesday by a score of 8-0. The Cougars drop to 3-9-3 overall on the season with the loss.
Lauren Witte and Amanda Elton did much of the damage for the Wildcats in the match. Witte opened the scoring in the third minute and Maddi Springer doubled the lead in the fifth. Witte's second goal came in the 21st minute and started a flurry that saw St. Kate's score four times in less than four minutes to go up, 6-0, in the 25th minute. Elton struck twice within 40 seconds during that period of time.
The Wildcats added goals in the 51st and 62nd minutes to increase its lead to 8-0 and kept the Cougars at bay from there to earn the shutout.
Bernadette Cienik made 13 saves for Minnesota Morris in the match.

Minnesota Morris comes back home to Cougar Field on Thursday to host Martin Luther College at 3:30 p.m.
