MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team ended with a 0-0 draw on Thursday afternoon against Martin Luther College. The tie moves the Cougars to 2-9-5 (2-4-5 UMAC) on the season.
The first half didn't result in many chances in either direction. Minnesota Morris had a slight advantage in total shots, 6-4, with three of those ending on target.
Lucas Harmon had one save in the first half on the lone Martin Luther shot on frame.
Carver Hammond,
Dominik Cantu-Polster, and
Carter Watkinson all had shots saved by Adam Rosenbaum.
The second 45 minutes was more wide open almost immediately. Harmon was forced into a save with just over a minute gone and Minnesota Morris produced its two best chances shortly after that.
Tristan Cruz blazed a shot just over the bar in the 48th minute and Hammond forced a diving save from Rosenbaum in the 49th minute to keep things level.
Despite an 11-7 edge in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks in the second half, Minnesota Morris was unable to break the tie. Harmon made a pair of saves in the final five minutes to preserve the deadlock for the Cougars.
Hammond finished the afternoon with four shots, three of which were on goal.
Carter Watkinson had three shots with two on target. Harmon made seven saves in the match.
Minnesota Morris hosts Bethany Lutheran College at 12 p.m. on Saturday for Senior Day at Cougar Field.
