MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris baseball team has announced its 2023 schedule, a challenging 40-game regular season slate that kicks off in U.S. Bank Stadium. Among those 40 games are 10 UMAC contests here in Morris at Chizek Field.

The season begins with a pair of doubleheaders at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The Cougars will meet Macalester College for two 7-inning contests on March 6 starting at 6 p.m. and will follow that with a twinbill against Augsburg University beginning at 9:30 p.m. on March 7.

From there, Minnesota Morris will jet down to the Orlando area for Spring Break, playing 11 varsity contests in the Sunshine State from March 9-16. The trip opens on March 9 with a doubleheader against Dominican University (Ill.) and continues the next day with a doubleheader against John Carroll University. The Cougars will play a single 9-inning contest on March 11 with Concordia University (Chicago). After an off day on March 12, UMN Morris closes out with six games over the final four days of the trip. March 13 brings a doubleheader with Farmingdale State University, March 14 has a single 9-inning contest with Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, March 15 features a doubleheader with Mitchell College, and the trip concludes on March 16 with a single game against Western New England University.

Returning home, Minnesota Morris jumps back into action on March 22 with a doubleheader against Hamline University that will be played at Saint John's University. UMAC play then opens with a single game at Crown College on March 28.

The opening weekend of home games for Minnesota Morris comes on March 31 and April 1 with Bethany Lutheran College venturing north to meet the Cougars at Chizek Field. The Friday afternoon contest begins at 3 p.m. and first pitch of a doubleheader between the Cougars and Vikings the following day is set for 2 p.m.

As the month of April continues, Minnesota Morris will head to Minneapolis for three games at North Central University on April 7-8 before returning home for a single game with Crown on April 12. The home stand will continue that weekend as the University of Wisconsin-Superior travels to Morris for three games on April 14-15 and the University of Northwestern makes the trip for the final home games of the season on April 21-22.

The Cougars will wrap up the 2023 season as road warriors starting with the conclusion of their three-game series with Crown in St. Bonifacius on April 25. Minnesota Morris will then head to New Ulm for three games at Martin Luther College on April 28-29, play Concordia College-Moorhead in a non-conference game on May 1, and wrap up UMAC play with three games in Ashland, Wis. on May 5-6 against Northland College. The regular season ends on May 8 as the Cougars face Saint John's back in Collegeville.

The UMAC Tournament will feature the top four teams in the conference at the conclusion of regular season play and will be hosted by the No. 1 seed in a double-elimination format from May 11-13.

After a 22-14 season in which the Cougars set a new single-season record for wins, Minnesota Morris is primed to build on its momentum and compete for a spot among the top teams in the UMAC. First Team All-UMAC performers Alex Baumann and Jacob Schaaf are back, as are Honorable Mention All-UMAC players Ty Beasley and Josh Osten. The Cougars also welcome in 10 newcomers who will vie for playing time and provide depth around the diamond.
