Bethany Lutheran Shuts Out Women’s Soccer in Season Finale

The Vikings went up two goals in a strong first half and held off the Cougars from there.

MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team finished its 2023 season with a 3-0 loss to Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday afternoon.

Bethany Lutheran controlled play in the first half and fired off 14 shots in the first 45 minutes, eight of which were on frame. Goals from Olaitz Muguruza in the 25th minute and Mia Saulter in the 27th minute staked the Vikings to a 2-0 lead at the break.

Ashley Casper scored in the 52nd minute to give BLC a 3-0 advantage. Kim Peters answered back with a shot later in the 52nd minute that was off target and Bella Toth had a shot saved late in the match to preserve the shutout for the Vikings.

Danielle Reinhard played the full 90 minutes in goal and made nine saves for the Cougars.

The Cougars finish the year with an overall record of 4-12-2, including a 4-8-2 mark in the UMAC.
