Watkinson Closes Career with UMAC Recognition

Carter Watkinson was named Honorable Mention All-UMAC in 2023, while Chann Piseth picked up a conference sportsmanship award.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team had a pair of individuals recognized by the conference in the UMAC postseason awards on Thursday. Senior midfielder/forward Carter Watkinson was named Honorable Mention All-UMAC, while first-year defender Chann Piseth was the winner of the team's Sportsmanship Award.

A product of Farmington, Minn., Watkinson earned all-conference accolades for the fourth straight season. The Cougar playmaker was Second Team All-UMAC in 2021 and 2022 following Honorable Mention recognition in the Spring 2021 campaign. This season, he registered two goals and seven assists while attempting a team-high 41 shots and 15 shots on goal. Watkinson wraps up his Minnesota Morris career as the all-time leader in matches started, while also tied for the all-time lead in matches played, ranking third all-time for the Cougars with 22 assists, and eighth all-time with 15 goals.

Each year, one member of each team in the UMAC is recognized with the UMAC Sportsmanship Award. This year's recipient for Minnesota Morris is Chann Piseth, a first-year defender from Burnsville, Minn. Piseth started all 19 matches on the season for the Cougars and had a pair of assists in 1,646 minutes on the pitch.

Minnesota Morris finished the at times injury-ravaged 2023 season with an overall mark of 2-13-4, including a 1-9-4 record in the UMAC that tied the Cougars for sixth in the conference standings.
