Baseball Announces Full Slate of 2024 Camps

Cougar baseball will host a pitching camp, hitting leagues, and a prospect camp early in 2024.

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris baseball team will begin hosting a number of camps focused on different skill sets in late January, continuing throughout February. Registration for all their camp offerings are now open.

Head Coach Matt O'Brien, the coaching staff, and players from the Cougar program will assist with a Pitching Camp on Jan 28. A second and third session will be held Feb 4 and Feb 11. Each camp runs from 9-10:30 a.m. for pitchers aged 8-18. The cost is $50 for one date or $130 for all three. Pitchers will receive individualized pitching instruction from Cougar coaches and players with emphasis on pitching mechanics, arm care, various pitch grips, and drills. Participants will have an opportunity to have their velocity tested with a radar gun.

Youth Hitting Leagues are divided into Sunday morning or Wednesday night sessions this year. Each session is open to players aged 7-18. The Sunday morning group will meet on Jan 28, Feb. 4, 11, from 10:45-11:30 a.m. The Wednesday night groups will meet on Jan 24, 31, Feb. 7, and 14. Wednesday night hitters can choose from two groups that meet either from 6:15-7 p.m. or 7:15-8 p.m. This league provides the opportunity to receive hitting instruction from Cougar coaches and players, learn new hitting drills, and participate in a variety of fun competitions. The cost is $40 a session or $130 for all four Wednesday sessions and/or $40 a session or $100 for all three Sunday sessions.

A Prospect/Instructional Camp will be hosted by Minnesota Morris on Feb. 18. The camp is open to all from grades 8-12 and the cost is $75. This camp will provide instruction on hitting, pitching, and fielding from specific position groups. Campers will also be evaluated by coaching staff and receive their metrics such as exit velocity, throwing velocity, and catcher pop time.

O'Brien also offers individual and group lessons for ages 8-18. Individual lessons are $40 for an hour and group lessons are $25 per individual for an hour. These lessons are tailored to the specific elements participants want to focus on. Contact Assistant Coach Mason Rapp at mrapp@morris.umn.edu for more information.
